Storm Baseball Battles Cougars To A Split

In game one Chemeketa emerged victorious over Clackamas with a 5-4 win in an extended 11-inning battle.

Clackamas took an early lead in the first inning. Catcher W. Goth delivered a single that brought in J. Giancola, setting the score at 1-0. However, Chemeketa was quick to respond in the second inning. E. Blackhawk's groundout allowed B. Hubble to score, tying the game at 1-1.  L. Kreisberg shone in the fifth inning with a triple, driving home C. Leming to edge Chemeketa ahead, 2-1. An additional RBI single by Jc. Klee in the seventh extended their lead to 3-1.

The ninth inning added a layer of drama as Clackamas mounted a comeback. B. Glassco stepped up with a crucial two-RBI single, leveling the score at 3-3 and pushing the game into extra innings.

Both teams struggled to convert opportunities in the 10th, but Chemeketa capitalized on Clackamas errors in the 11th inning. N. Crawford reached first on a error, allowing E. Blackhawk and J. Vaccaro to score, pushing Chemeketa ahead 5-3. Clackamas narrowed the gap with a D. Beamer RBI double, but Chemeketa held on for the win.

Chemeketa's pitchers were crucial to their success. T. Brenneman completed six strong innings, allowing only one run. A. Yost and M. Eaton preserved the lead through the final innings despite Clackamas' scoring attempts with Eaton earning the win.

Chemeketa dropped game two with a final score of 6-3. 

Despite an explosive start by Chemeketa in the second inning, which saw them scoring three runs thanks to a triple from W. Hooper and subsequent hits by T. Ward and E. Blackhawk.  Chemeketa's early momentum was halted by Clackamas's pitching squad, beginning with S. Laddusaw, who pitched four innings, allowing three runs and striking out five. The combined effort of relief pitchers C. Stofflet, E. Young, and B. Lucas effectively shut down Chemeketa for the remainder of the game.

Clackamas initiated their comeback in the second inning, starting with an RBI single from C. Keller. A big double from L. Kovac in the fifth inning brought in two crucial runs and was instrumental in Clackamas taking the lead. Further contributions came from A. Menchaca and H. Massie, who each drove in key runs, securing the victory for their team.

Chemeketa's main struggles stemmed from control issues within their pitching, giving up 11 walks and 7 hits in game two.

On the day L. Kreisberg was impressive at the plate with 4 extra base hits including 3 doubles and a triple as well as two walks.
