Storm Track & Field Sets Scoring Record at Southern Regionals
Beating the Heat: Storm Track Overcomes Extreme Conditions for Historic Finish
ROSEBURG, Ore. — Under a relentless sun and soaring temperatures, the Chemeketa Storm track and field program didn't just survive the Southern Regional Championships—they rewrote the program's modern history.
Scoring a total of 10 points, the Storm achieved their highest regional point total since the program was reinstated in 2019. In a masterclass of mental toughness, Chemeketa athletes scored in every single event they entered, proving that the "Grind" in Salem is officially yielding championship-caliber results.
Robles Ignites the Momentum
The scoring surge began in the 400m, where Fernanda Robles delivered a gutsy performance in the heat. Robles powered through the final turn to clock a personal best (PB) of 1:10.12. Her 7th-place finish provided the opening points for the Storm and set a high-performance tone for the rest of the afternoon.
