Chemeketa Softball Sweeps Grays Harbor

In game one Chemeketa showcased a commanding performance against Grays Harbor, securing a decisive 9-0 victory.


Chemeketa wasted no time setting the tone, scoring two runs in the first inning. A. Archuleta's single brought home C. Weaving and J. Rule, giving the home team an early lead. The third inning saw Chemeketa explode with five more runs, extending their lead to 7-0. Key contributions came from Mcke. Dodge, who singled for an RBI, and A. Wilsey, whose triple brought in two more runs. R. Shumaker's double capped off the inning, driving in A. Wilsey.

The offensive onslaught continued in the fourth inning with Mcke. Dodge hitting a two-run homer, scoring A. Archuleta and himself, to finalize the score at 9-0. Chemeketa's hitters collectively amassed nine hits, with Dodge and Wilsey leading the charge.

J. Rule delivered an exceptional performance in the circle for Chemeketa, pitching a complete game shutout over five innings. Rule allowed just one hit, and struck out six Grays Harbor batters, demonstrating control and composure throughout. This stellar pitching effort was complemented by a solid defensive display.

Chemeketa's comprehensive victory over Grays Harbor underscores their strength in both batting and pitching. The team demonstrated efficiency and skill, capitalizing on opportunities and maintaining pressure on their opponents. As Chemeketa looks to build on this impressive performance, Grays Harbor will need to regroup and address their challenges in both offense and defense to improve in future games.

Game two saw Chemeketa secured a decisive 8-4 victory over Grays Harbor at their home field. After a first inning run by Grays Harbor the Storm responded.  After a double by A. Wilsey and a couple walks A. Archuleta's groundout allowed A. Wilsey to score, tying the game. J. Vermillio and Mcke. Dodge further capitalized on this momentum, each contributing to Chemeketa's early 3-1 lead.

In the fourth inning, Grays Harbor narrowed the gap with a double by K. Byrd, driving in two runs and leveling the score at 3-3. Chemeketa again responded in their half of the fourth with C. Weaving's single and A. Cavazos's three-RBI double were instrumental in extending Chemeketa's lead to 8-3. 

Grays Harbor managed to manufacture a run in the seventh inning, as M. Villalba managed to bring in a run with a sacrifice fly, but it wasn't enough to overcome Chemeketa's lead, concluding the game at 8-4.

Chemeketa's A. Wilsey delivered a complete game in the circle, showcasing resilience and skill. Over seven innings, Wilsey allowed five hits and four earned runs, striking out ten batters. 


Chemeketa's victorys were marked by timely hitting outbursts and and overall dominating pitching on the day.
