The Final Out: Lane Edges Chemeketa in Pair of Back-to-Back Battles
16 Hits, Two Losses: Storm’s Offensive Surge Met by Titan Resistance
EUGENE, Ore. — Baseball is often a game of timing, and on Wednesday, the timing just didn't favor the Chemeketa Storm. In a grueling doubleheader at Lane Community College, Chemeketa fought through lead changes and late-inning rallies, only to fall just short in both contests, losing 5-4 and 9-7.
Despite out-hitting the Titans in the opener and reclaiming the lead late in the nightcap, the Storm (7-7) couldn't quite find the final out needed to tip the scales in their favor.
Game 1: A Duel of Inches
Final Score: Lane 5, Chemeketa 4
The opener was a classic chess match. The Storm jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the fourth inning when Drew Rice delivered a clutch two-out, 2-RBI single that brought home Isaiah Sanchez and Wyatt Hooper.
However, the Titans clawed back with a decisive three-run fifth inning. Chemeketa refused to go quietly; in the eighth, Nick Crawford laced an RBI single to bring the Storm within one. Andrew Yost was masterful in relief, tossing 3.1 innings of scoreless ball to keep the comeback hopes alive, but Lane's Caleb Malloy shut the door in the ninth.

Spark Plug: Wyatt Hooper was everywhere, going 2-for-3 with a double and scoring three of the Storm's four runs.
-
Pitching Note: Starter Jack Klee battled through five innings, while Yost's relief appearance provided the stability the Storm needed to stay within striking distance.
Game 2: The Sixth-Inning Rollercoaster
Final Score: Lane 9, Chemeketa 7
If the first game was a chess match, the second was a heavyweight slugfest. After falling behind 5-2 early, the Storm offense went to work. Slater Tsuma and Isaiah Sanchez spearheaded a furious three-run rally in the top of the sixth to take a 7-6 lead, sending the Chemeketa dugout into a frenzy.
The joy was short-lived, however. In the bottom of the same frame, Lane's Cody Roletto and Jalen Riddle combined for three runs to snatch the lead back for good.
"The fight in this dugout is undeniable," noted the Chemeketa perspective. "To take the lead in the sixth showed who we are. We just have to finish the job."
